Playhead and Locator Functions in Logic Pro X

Today I will be covering two video tutorials on the subject of Logic Pro X Playhead functions as well as Locator functions. Understand how to effectively use key commands to enable functions in both of these areas will be crucial in you being able to quickly move around your DAW’s interface allowing you to perform editing tasks with ease. The key commands that will be covered in both of these videos are not commonly used but when you do get your head around them you’ll find that your workflow really picks up as these tools will give you a lot of flexibility when you are programing or editing in Logic X.

Logic Key Command Solutions

Sometimes in life, solutions to problems are often sitting right in front of us but we are quite oblivious to these problem solvers. And this is the case with some of these seldom used keyboard shortcuts. They really do make a difference and if you take the time to follow the lessons I’ll be showing you and at the same time make notes you will most certainly find that the process of producing music in Pro X is greatly enhanced.

Left & Right Locators

Besides allowing you to set up loop or cycle functions in Logic, the Left and Right locators can also help you in a number of other key ways. This includes performing tasks in your arrangement such as splicing individual or groups of regions, chopping whole chunks out of an arrangement, inserting silence or removing silent gaps, splitting an entire production and removing a chunk with just a few simple keystrokes.

Logic Pro X Playhead

Similarly the Logic Pro X Playhead can be used to quickly cut things up, move you around two different positions within your arrangement and guide you in terms of your location in the DAW when composing, editing, mixing or mastering your projects in this application.

Watch Both Videos

I try to stick to the main points in both tutorials and give you all you need to know when using these particular keyboard shortcuts. I’ve found the key commands which control the Logic Pro X Playhead to be very helpful indeed. Hopefully something covered in the lessons will stick and help you in your own music production process. I’m always delighted to have your feedback so make sure you leave a comment on what you thought of the lesson and don’t forget to like and subscribe to my channel. These are just a couple of videos from my series on Logic Pro X Key Commands so do check out my other tutorials in the series as well as those on beat making and music production. I’ll be back real soon with more so stay locked in.

Peace!
